Representative Jamil Al-Sayed wrote on his Twitter account:
Someone asked me,
Do you think that Suleiman Franjieh will withdraw his candidacy at some point?! Do you think his allies will wish him to withdraw at some point?!
I said,
What I know for certain is that he is not thinking of withdrawing at all, and that his allies will not wish him to withdraw at any time, nor are they regarding to abandon his support as long as he is a candidate.
Then he asked me,
Out of pure hypothesis, and in the event that Franjieh is really disgusted and dispensed with all this mess, then who will be the most fortunate candidate?!
I said once more,
He will not withdraw, but I will nevertheless answer you on your theoretical proposition:
The presidency will devolve to the army chief…
he asked me,
Will Franjieh allies accept it?!
I said,
The army commander has not made a mistake so far in any strategic matter, and he knows that if it were not for the daily integration and coordination between the army and the resistance, ISIS would still be in the outskirts of Arsal, and it might have spread to the outskirts of Bsharri, Aqoura, Ayoun al-Siman, Sannin, al-Barouk.
Also, had it not been for this integration and coordination, it would not have been possible to eliminate gangs of every kind, and without it, Israel would not have been deterred in the south and would not have taken a thousand accounts of its steps on the border…
and he asked me once more,
What regarding the army commander’s intimate relationship with the Americans?!
I said,
Since the time of President Lahoud and our days in the army and security, this relationship has not been interrupted in the training, equipment, armament and other sectors. One of the conditions of that relationship was that it not affect the national basics, the most important of which is national unity, unity of the army, resistance to Israel, our different understanding of terrorism and the relationship with Syria. The Americans respected these rules until the beginning of 2005. And I do not think that any army commander can betray himself and his national position and deviate from those rules in a way that leads to breaking the unity of the country and the army for the sake of a special relationship between him and any foreign country, which might make him a refugee there and not the president of Lebanon…
Finally he asked me,
Suppose that a miracle occurred in favor of the nomination of the army commander, so what then regarding Geagea, Bassil, Jumblatt and others?!
I said,
