Although the pre-registration system for the first year of higher education via Parcoursup now concerns more than 21,000 courses in France, some courses still have their own recruitment process.

If there is one promising area that escapes the Parcoursup system, it is that of business and management schools! The majority of these establishments continue to recruit through their own admissions process.
And for good reason, you often have to go through a competition to get a place, after having joined a preparatory class (the famous preparatory course) for the most prestigious and selective schools.

Engineering
Although today’s engineering schools all use Parcoursup to find their first-year students, this is not the case for engineering schools, which have their own admission procedures.
These establishments specializing in the scientific field issue diplomas at the bac + 5 level and allow students to achieve executive status but do not grant the title of engineer.
They exist in many rated fields, such as the internet, IT or biotechnology, and their courses are often very specialized.
Hotels and restaurants
The very large tourism, hotel and catering sector offers a myriad of training courses both via Parcoursup and outside of this pre-registration process.

The many bachelor’s degrees in hotel management offered by private schools are particularly popular, knowing that they recruit on file or competition directly after the baccalaureate or at bac + 1 or +2 outside the national platform.
Communication et marketing
Various private communication and marketing schools also choose not to appear on the Parcoursup portal in order to maintain their independence as well as their own admission system.
THE journalism schools do the same, as do a wide range of specialized establishments dedicated to specific professions. It is then up to you to inform yourself well, to check the diplomas issued and the professional recognition provided to make your choice and apply wisely.
The art world
Among the multitude of art courses available in France, only some are accessible via the Parcoursup pre-registration process. While the plastic arts higher education network dependent on the Ministry of Culture includes around forty establishments, the majority of which recruit via competitions of their own.
Focus: a certificate required
Do your orientation wishes push you towards an establishment outside Parcoursup? When compiling your application file, remember to download the appropriate certificate!
High school students who have expressed wishes via the national post-baccalaureate admission system and finally choose a higher education outside of this process must download a deregistration certificate from their online file, section “Admission”.
As for those who did not register on Parcoursup because they knew they would not need it, they must still download a certificate of non-registration on the national portal.
In either case, this form will be required by the establishment in order to prove that you are not engaged elsewhere.
The pros and the cons
Applying for training outside Parcoursup has various advantages and disadvantages.
On the positive side, we will obviously note a more flexible enrollment calendar since these establishments generally offer several intakes during the year. Depending on the school, the response time may also be faster and the admission process may be easier.
Nevertheless, applying outside the national platform requires being well informed about the coveted establishment in order to ensure its seriousness, credibility and reputation. It is also necessary to multiply the research to know its calendar and its process of admission in order to put all the chances on its side.
