While many French people are already on holiday, the Federation of Maritime Industries (FIN) and its members BRP, Kawasaki and Yamaha are launching a new initiative on VNM responsibility in partnership with the Secretariat of State for Maritime Motor Vehicles (VNM). Three market leaders BRP (Seadoo), Kawasaki and Yamaha explained that motorized watercraft, which includes all personal watercrafts, jet skis and jet skis, are mobilizing together with their respective FINs in a campaign on responsible and accountable Responsibility awareness activities.
Several partners want to be part of the initiative, starting with the Secretariat of State for Oceans and Biodiversity, followed by the French Motorboat Federation (FFM) and the National Union of Professionals in Nautical Activities (SNPAN).
Code of good conduct to remind you of the rules
This Code of Good Practice, written by all stakeholders and widely distributed at launch in summer 2024, emphasizes:
- Applicable regulations.
- Respect for the environment.
- Concern for other users of oceans and coasts.
- Responsible navigation.
- Respect others in port and on the slipway.

Video to illustrate the behavior to take
In addition to the VNM Code of Good Practice, four videos have been produced to illustrate the application of these rules and recommendations in a situation, thus enabling all practitioners to become responsible boaters.
The videos will be available throughout the summer on social networks and YouTube, as well as on FIN’s communications and those of brands, dealers and rental companies. These films are also available free of charge to any actor who wants to broadcast operations within the framework of his activity (school ship, marina, association, etc.) or use these films for his own use.
FIN participates with countries in the evolution of regulations
In addition to this communication campaign, the press release states that FIN and its three members BRP (Kawasaki and Yamaha) are working with the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGAMPA) to develop regulations (Article 240) to improve safety: pilots and the compulsory wearing of neoprene suits for passengers, the boarding of a second circuit breaker, updated safety equipment… These actions are the culmination of a strong mobilization launched since a year by all public and private stakeholders to make this fun possible and Barrier-free sports developed in harmony with the environment.
