Coach Didier Deschamps shared his opinion regarding French superstar Karim Benzema’s decision to retire from the World Cup. Benzema has given his response on the matter.
Deschamps explained that the announcement of retirement was a personal decision of Benzema and that the player did not return to the squad because he was not fit.

The French superstar Karim Benzema was ruled out due to injury just hours before the World Cup kick-off. The player informed his fans through his official social media account that he will not play the World Cup.
However, reports emerged later that the player recovered from the injury faster than expected and will join the French national team in the next matches of the World Cup.
Benzema was not back in the team despite the fans looking forward. But Karim Jasiri, Benzema’s agent, has alleged that the player was kept out of the match even though he had no fitness problem.
Benzema injured his thigh during the training camp ahead of the World Cup. Following this, the player was dropped from the French squad. The coach started the Qatar World Cup campaign with 25 players.
Not bringing in a replacement for Benzema led to rumours. Fans thought that Benzema did it to get back.
