what autopsies reveal about the presence of the virus in the body

If it is called a respiratory virus, Sars-CoV-2, responsible for Covid-19, is not limited to the ENT sphere. This is at least what emerges from a new American scientific study, recently published in the prestigious journal Nature (Source 1).

An analysis of tissue samples from the autopsies of 44 people who died and had Covid-19 revealed the presence of the virus throughout the body, including the brain, for almost 8 months after death. .

Importantly, none of these 44 patients were vaccinated against Sars-CoV-2, and 61.4% of patients had three or more comorbidities. The blood plasma of 38 patients tested positive for this coronavirus, while three tested negative (i.e. devoid of virus particles), and three others were not tested. 30% of the patients were women, and the median age of the sample was 62.5 years. The median interval between symptom onset and death was 18.5 days.

As expected, the analysis revealed the presence of the virus in the upper respiratory tract, and up to the lung tissues. But virus RNA was also observed in 84 other body locations and fluids, including the hypothalamus (deep part of the brain playing a major role in the regulation of vital functions) and a patient’s cerebellum, and in the spinal cord and basal ganglia (located in the heart of the brain) of two other patients. However,…
