What is the promise of Metroid Prime Remastered?
The first Metroid Prime game has been remastered on Nintendo Switch in HD, with improved graphics and sound quality. Explore Tallon IV through the eyes of Samus Aran, but beware…this planet is full of hidden threats. Fortunately, you can count on your rays, your missiles or your bombs to defend yourself. This remastered version offers the possibility of playing with the two sticks to allow you to move while directing your gaze, as well as for the first time to play this classic wherever and whenever you want!
What do we think of it?
It’s been a long time since Nintendo had any surprises like this in store for us! First, the game launched to everyone’s surprise on the Nintendo eShop, just hours following its February 8 Nintendo Direct presentation. For those who prefer to buy the physical version in store, you will have to wait until March 3.
The second surprise comes from the quality of the title. In recent years, Nintendo has sometimes accustomed us to ports that are a little lazy, and therefore disappointing. Here, while the game is soberly titled “Remastered”, we are rather entitled to a real remake of the game released on Gamecube 20 years ago.
Not only is the original game enhanced by stunning graphics, which show that the Switch still has some in its belly. But in addition, the gameplay has also been reviewed and corrected. If it is possible to play with the same controls as on Gamecube, you can also play Metroid Prime Remastered in the same way as all modern FPS, with the two sticks of the controller.
In short, for its 20th anniversary, Metroid Prime might not have dreamed of a better birthday present. What to get back in the bath before, we hope, the upcoming arrival of Metroid Prime 4, and why not remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3.
