In Chad, the inclusive and sovereign national dialogue has been open since Saturday. Head of State Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno described this dialogue as ” the last date for peace in the country. The debates were supposed to start on Monday but were finally postponed until tomorrow, officially for organizational reasons.

The prayer has just ended in the Repos 2 district of Ndjamena. In the shade of a tree, Muhammad, a refrigeration mechanic, has tea with friends and welcomes the opening of the inclusive and sovereign national dialogue:
« Dialogue with politico-military groups is a good thing, because without them there can be no reconciliation that would allow progress to be made in Chad’s interest. »
A neighbor overhears the discussion on leaving her home. For her, the dialogues follow each other and resemble each other, without ever benefiting the Chadian people: “ This dialogue is not in the interest of the people. Since 1979, we have only had problems. They and their children live in comfort while Chadians suffer in poverty. »
Many are also calling on those who resist dialogue to join the discussion table. But others, like this temporary teacher, also want France, Chad’s great military ally, to review its cooperation with the country: “ if it’s regarding discussions, I like to discuss with France. France must change its agenda. How many times have the Chadians met, from dialogue to dialogue? Nothing has changed. And all they are doing is bullshit. Real Chadians don’t take that into consideration. »
Despite this dialogue deemed decisive by President Mahamat Idriss Déby, the hearts of Chadians swing between hope and discouragement.
