What are the CNE electoral fairs and in which part of the country are they located?

The National Electoral Council (CNE) published on Wednesday, July 10, the location of the electoral fairs available in every state of Venezuela, ahead of the presidential elections on July 28.

The Electoral Authority explained on its website that the electoral fairs were set up with the purpose of facilitating the voting process, since they allow voters to know how the system works.

“The CNE will deploy a thousand information points throughout the national territory, so that voters have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the automated voting system and learn regarding the electoral offer corresponding to the constituency in which they must exercise their right to vote during the elections,” reads the governing body’s website.

The CNE explained that, of the 1,000 electoral fairs, 24 are located in the state capitals and the other 976 are distributed throughout the rest of the national territory.

The Capital District has 81 electoral fairs; while in Miranda 98 points were enabled: 21 in the Sucre municipality, eight in Baruta, four in Chacao, three in El Hatillo, among others.

Other distributions of the electoral fairs: Anzoátegui with 54 electoral points; Carabobo, with 79; Apure, with 19; Aragua, with 41; Lara, with 65; Mérida, with 31; Portuguesa, with 33; Zulia with 73; among others.

Regarding the deployment of the points, Aime Nogal, rector of the CNE, assured in an interview for Union Radio that the distribution was carried out taking into account the Electoral Registry.

The representative of the National Electoral Council recalled that the electoral fairs will be available until July 27, 2024, one day before the presidential elections.

2024 electoral schedule

The steps of the electoral calendar that remain to be completed are:

– Audit of electoral technological infrastructure, from July 15 to 17

-Candidate accountability, July 19-20

-Pre-dispatch audit, July 19-20

-Protocol for receiving voting machines, July 24

– Audit of national totalization centers, July 26

Training of board members

Aime Nogal also highlighted that another step prior to the presidential elections is the preparation and training of board memberswho must complete a six-module course and print the credential.

This work is mandatory, in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law of the Electoral Process.

During their duties, the persons who were selected in the CNE draw to be members of the table, must comply with the following obligations:

-They must review and visit the premises assigned for the operation of the electoral table and confirm that the place allows the use of the authorized voting system.

-Receive the electoral material and verify that it is delivered in the quantities specified in the corresponding minutes

-Confirm that the electoral records, ballots, voting notebooks and other electoral material correspond to the voting center and the assigned electoral table

Voting table members must be present at the voting center at 5:00 a.m. on election day to form the electoral table.
