“What an era!” – “I wanted to leave forever”: Nicoletta reflects on her suicide attempt

My grandmother raised meshe was my legal guardian”. Invited on the set of the show “Quelle Époque!” Saturday April 20, Nicoletta returned to his childhood.

When she was born, the singer was not recognized by her father and his mother was mentally disabled. So it was her grandmother who took care of her. “She was a wonderful woman,” Nicoletta said of the woman who was a resistance fighter during the war and hid jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. “If I hadn’t had the grandmother I had, I wouldn’t have led the life I led”explained Nicoletta.

“My mother had the mind of a child”, continued the singer. “As a child, it caused me problems: I had attacks from other children.” “The older I got, the more I realized that I had to help him,” said Léa Salamé’s guest. “I had become his mother a little […]. I loved him so much“.

When she died at the age of 40, Nicoletta attempted suicide. “I wanted to leave forever and join her”, she stressed. “A doctor saved me. I was in a coma for eight days and had a near death experience,” she said. “But the good Lord didn’t want me, it wasn’t my day,” concluded the singer.
