New York (United Nations), Jul 17, 2022 (SPS) The Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN, Nadir Larbaoui, in a scathing response published by the Security Council, dismantled and brushed aside the false and fallacious allegations, made by the Moroccan representative in New York, and recalled the historical truths and the fundamentals of the conflict in Western Sahara.
It must be said that each time the Moroccan representative tries to deviate the Sahrawi question from its historical realities and seeks to mislead the international community through false remarks and unfounded attacks once morest Algeria, in order to have the alleged ‘autonomy plan’ as the only solution in Western Sahara, it is immediately reframed.
In his nine-part response, the Algerian ambassador this time revealed to the Security Council the extent of the intellectual and political indigence of the Moroccan representative.
Indeed, in response to the letter sent by the representative of Morocco to the Security Council, Ambassador Larbaoui sent a new letter to the President and members of the Security Council as well as to the Secretary General of the United Nations. A “sentence” letter commensurate with the seriousness, respectability and rigor of an Algerian diplomacy forged and carried by the brave child activists of just causes, because heirs of a glorious Revolution.
In his letter, published by the United Nations as an official document of the Security Council, the ambassador made a real plea, without detours and without appeal, in form and in substance, by which he deploys a solid argument and fires with red bullets on the hackneyed quibbles of the representative of Makhzen.
He recalls that the representative of Morocco, the occupying power in Western Sahara, has, as has been the case in the past, continued to make, in an inappropriate manner, false and misleading direct allegations, accompanied by unacceptable accusations once morest Algeria.
“The letter from the representative of Morocco is totally out of context, patently misleading, as it always is whenever he is cornered by the undeniable facts and irrefutable historical truths regarding the situation in the occupied territory of Western Sahara” , he hammered.
“This letter, adds Mr. Larbaoui, also reflects the ambitious and biased expectations of someone who dares to hope for answers to his incoherent and senseless letter”.
“A hope that can only emanate from a perfect embodiment of his desperate, zealous, blind tendency to shoot first and aim later,” he says, a subtly appropriate allusion made to Omar Hilale, “the eternal representative of Karma iterative stupidity”.
The Algerian diplomat continues, sweeping away with the back of his hand, “the lucubrations abounding in the Moroccan missive, to solemnly impose the terms of reference for a real debate of ideas that Mr. Omar Hilale cannot support because suffering from a dizzying vertigo preventing him from gaining intellectual height, even less from rising to the level of the known and recognized discourse of Algerian diplomacy”.
In a didactic, elaborate and civilized style, Nadir Larbaoui reintroduces the real questions on the conflict in Western Sahara that Morocco and certain countries seem to elude in these moments of the rise of transactional diplomacy and the “normalization” of “the abnormal ”.
Warning once morest the Moroccan “autonomy plan”
The nine aspects mentioned by the Algerian ambassador in his response relate to a reminder of the status of Western Sahara, the status of Morocco as the occupying power of this non-autonomous territory, the sharing first and then the annexation by Morocco Saharawi territory, the identification of the two parties to the conflict and on the mandate of MINURSO.
He also returns to Morocco’s opposition to the monitoring of the human rights situation in Western Sahara by MINURSO and other UN mechanisms, Morocco’s obstruction of the peaceful settlement of the conflict, the responsibility of the kingdom in the breaking of the ceasefire and on the escalation of the conflict and the unjust, colonial and unrealistic nature of the so-called “autonomy proposal”.
Deconstructing the content, foundations and objectives of the so-called ‘autonomy plan’ presented by the occupying power in Western Sahara, Larbaoui asserted that it constitutes a dangerous precedent which threatens the very foundation of international legality and the Charter of the UN.
“To give any credit to the occupying power and its ‘autonomy plan’ would therefore mean that, for the first time since the creation of the United Nations, the international community would legitimize the occupation and annexation of a territory and the domination of his people by force,” he explained.
Moreover, he added, the very idea of considering this plan would amount to “putting up with a retrograde plan that goes once morest the well-established and well-known doctrine of decolonization of the United Nations”. .
Mr. Larbaoui, as he made it clear at the outset, gave his letter a purpose which was “exclusively to answer the real questions that the representative of the occupying power in Western Sahara is terrified of asking, but also incapable of hearing regarding the reality of the conflict in Western Sahara which it tries in vain, through fallacious and false allegations, to mislead or conceal”.
This representative as well as his country “are not aware that the Sahrawi people have proven for almost 50 years their capacities for struggle and resilience, by defeating all attempts to impose a fait accompli on them”.
“This is proof that any solution must go through the essential free expression of the Sahrawi people of their right to self-determination, like all the peoples of the world and thus put an end to the great injustice done to their once morest”, he concluded. (SPS)
