The White House also confirmed that the first anniversary of the October 7 attack on Israel would be a “painful day,” as it described it.
In Germany, the head of German domestic intelligence warned that the anniversary of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack and the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip may be a “provoking event” for unrest.
Next Monday marks the first anniversary of the unprecedented attack launched by the Palestinian faction movement, during which it launched thousands of rockets towards Israel, and its forces stormed Israeli settlements, causing the death of about 1,200 Israelis, the capture of about 240 others, and the elimination of the “Gaza” division in the Israeli army.
Thomas Haldenwang, head of the German domestic intelligence service, said that the unrest in the Middle East tends to provoke reactions in Germany, warning of what he described as manifestations of “anti-Semitism and hostility towards Israel,” and warning of “a high possibility of sympathy and polarization” on the anniversary.
This war, during which Israel faced accusations of committing “war crimes,” left as of Friday, October 4, 41,802 Palestinians dead, including 16,891 children, and 96,844 wounded, according to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
Tel Aviv estimates that there are 101 prisoners in Gaza out of at least 239 Israelis who were captured on October 7. It exchanged dozens of them with Tel Aviv during a temporary truce in November 2023, and the Palestinian faction movement announced the killing of dozens of others in random Israeli raids.
The war continues despite the UN Security Council adopting two resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to take mandatory measures to avoid targeting civilians, while regional and international efforts continue to reach a ceasefire agreement and an exchange deal between Israel and the Palestinian faction movement.
