A total amount of 54,526,610.42 euros will be allocated by the Region of Western Greece, through the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, for the implementation of the actions of the “Human Resources and Social Cohesion” Program with the ultimate aim of tackling social exclusion and mitigating of the phenomenon of marginalization of vulnerable groups.

The program concerns more than 40,000 beneficiaries, beneficiaries of the Minimum Guaranteed Income, who will be provided with free food, basic material assistance products, as well as psychosocial support services (counseling centers), empowerment and social integration of special groups (such as counseling for female victims of domestic violence violence), services of psychosocial support, empowerment and social integration of children, such as e.g. social tutorials, cultural and creative activities, nutritional and healthy eating advice, family budget management advice, etc.

The Region of Western Greece claimed and succeeded in having, for the new programming period that begins immediately, increased resources of more than 50% compared to the previous period, the most following the Regions of Attica and Central Macedonia, which will be allocated to cover the needs of the beneficiaries of the Region of Western Greece.

The Regional Governor of Western Greece Nektarios Farmakis stated: “This is a very large increase in available resources by 50% as during the previous programming period, actions were implemented to combat poverty, social marginalization and abortion, within the framework of the European aid fund for the needy TEBA with a total budget of 35.9 million euro. We must therefore also in this new programming period, to practically support our most vulnerable fellow citizens, with substantial, stable and effective steps. The standard of living of every person, as well as the power that the local government has to make him a member of a society of equal opportunities for all, is a mirror of our society, it reflects its values and ideals. It is our duty and our benefit that these values – and therefore every human being – are not abandoned, but strengthened and flourished further. The Region of Western Greece claims and succeeds in raising resources. Resources directed to social cohesion, to weak citizens”.

It is noted that during the previous programming period, more than 4 million kilograms of food and almost 3 million pieces of Basic Material Contribution items were distributed throughout the Region of Western Greece to almost 60,000 TEBA beneficiaries.

Additionally, to reduce the social gap and the stigma that governs vulnerable social groups, approximately 100 actions were planned and implemented in the framework of the implementation of the Accompanying Measures of the Program.

Many of these actions have been very successful and received distinctions, such as the TEBA Accompanying Measure “LinkUpSkills – Career Days”, which was selected for presentation by the EU Network CoP on MaterialSupport Social InnovationInitiatives (FEAD ESF+) as a good practice of Accompanying Measures and presented at a workshop in Brussels at the Social InnovationForum 26 – 27 October 2023. The aim was to improve the employability prospects for unemployed and especially young people, TEBA beneficiaries of the Western Greece Regional Council.

In addition, the Accompanying Measure mypdeteba.gr, the digital application designed with the aim of familiarizing the beneficiaries with digital media, but also for their personalized support and information in matters of food distributions/VYS and Accompanying Measures TEBA, was selected as a good practice for presentation at the European Network CoP – Community of Practice on MaterialSupport on 28.2.2024, in the context of a meeting with other EU countries on the subject of DigitalSolutions on MaterialSupport.

On April 10-11, 2024, all of the Accompanying Measures of the PDE and findings of basic social surveys were presented as good practices for the essential empowerment and active participation of the beneficiaries at the meeting of experts and members of the European Network in Athens.
