Western Digital presents new SSDs with options for portable consoles and PS5

A Western Digital is taking advantage of the end of the year to launch new models of SSDs. These are two models WD Blue SN580 NVMe, WD_BLACKTM SN770M NVMe e WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe para Consoles PS5with varied possibilities of use, going beyond the variant focused on Sony gaming equipment.

As expected, the products stand out for offering different storage capacities to purchase, in addition to the 5-year warranty guaranteed by the manufacturer. Now, it’s time to know some details regarding each of them.

SSD WD Blue SN580 NVMe

To begin with, this model was presented as a solution that can be useful for accelerating creative workflows with low power consumption. The item promises to deliver fast loading of large files, with variants from 250GB to 2TB in size.

It is also worth highlighting that this version can deliver up to 4,150 MB/s² of speed, if the user is using models with 1TB and 2TB of storage capacity. It comes with PCIe Gen 4 interface to provide the mentioned performance.

WD_BLACKTM SN770M NVMe

This model, in turn, was designed for use with portable consoles, such as the ROG Ally from ASUS and the Steam Deck, from Valve. In this sense, the available capacities vary between 500GB and 2TB.

As for speeds, the reference model used by the brand was 1TB, which should deliver 5,150 MB/s² of reading and 4,900 MB/s of writing.

WD_BLACK SN850P NVMe

As for Western Digital’s third SSD, its highlight is the fact that it is a licensed variant developed with a focus on the PlayStation 5. In other words, it is optimized especially for the Sony console’s M.2 slot, in addition to featuring a heat sink with the brand logo on it.

The options available for this product vary between 1TB and 4TB. The 2TB and 4TB models, in turn, are promised to deliver read speeds of 7,300 MB/s² and 6,600 MB/s write speeds.

Availability and price

According to Western Digital, the WD Blue model arrives this week on the Brazilian market, while the other models are scheduled to arrive in the first half of December. Prices, in turn, were not revealed.
