[Brussels, 24th Archyde.com]–Western countries will be President Putin of Russia at the summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the seven major countries (G7), and the European Union (EU), which will be held on the 24th. It is expected to show its determination to pay the “destructive” price of the invasion of Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden will also attend a series of conferences in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, and Ukrainian President Joe Biden will give a video speech at a NATO-EU conference.

The NATO Rapid Deployable Corps will take the lead, and it is likely that an agreement will be reached to strengthen the defense capabilities of eastern Europe, which is close to Russia. NATO leaders are also expected to decide to provide biological and chemical weapons as well as equipment to protect Ukraine from nuclear threats.

The G7, which added Japan to major Western countries, is also expected to emphasize its determination to impose a large price on Russia through economic sanctions.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the European Parliament yesterday that “the decision to invade an independent sovereign state needs to be thoroughly understood as a strategic failure at a destructive cost to Mr Putin and Russia.”

The US government has explained that President Biden will announce new sanctions on Russia and measures to strengthen current sanctions with the EU, but EU diplomatic sources said it would not be a major additional sanction. Some member states are resisting the embargo because of their high reliance on Russian energy.

Meanwhile, the EU is expected to agree on a joint purchase of natural gas at a two-day summit. It is expected to play a role as a cushioning material to alleviate supply shocks with the aim of reducing dependence on Russian gas.
