Westerlo losing momentum, Racing Genk takes advantage – All football

After a brilliant start to the season, KVC Westerlo can’t get going anymore. The Kempen team lost to Genk.

The teams are losing their feathers at the end of the season: KRC Genk is experiencing its first steps without Bilal El Khannouss this Friday, against a Westerlo deprived of Lucas Stassin who has left to finalize his transfer to Saint-Etienne. Strange days located around the end of the transfer window, when departures surprise the clubs and everyone is waiting for the final straight.

Genk’s new technical leader is supposed to be Konstantinos Karetsas, and he takes on that role. It’s one of his superb through balls that finds Jarne Steuckers, and Bolat intervenes (18th).

The Limburgers took control of the match after ten difficult minutes, El Ouahdi and Arokodare missed the opening goal.

In the second half, Genk nearly got punished for their inefficiency when Frigan was found at the far post but failed to get the shot on target (51st). On the other side, El Ouahdi multiplied the attacks, but Tolu Arokodare really wasn’t having a good night… and was unlucky, finding the crossbar.

It will take a set piece to make the difference, but above all a big mistake from Sinan Bolat. On a free kick from the side, the Turkish goalkeeper makes a mistake and offers 1-0 to Nicolas Sattlbergerbarely entered the game (81st). A goal that will be enough for Genk to win.

For Westerlo, it’s three games in a row without a win, a 1/9 and only one goal scored in three games, after a brilliant start to the season. A backlash that seems almost logical for Timmy Simons’ men.
