From August 1, 2023, WESTbahn will be a cooperation partner in the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR)

Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland (OTS) With effect from August 1, 2023, WESTbahn will join the VOR. Commuters in particular benefit from the convenient additional rail service. All valid VOR tickets can be used on the WESTbahn.

2.5 million train kilometers more in the VOR offer

With its accession, WESTbahn is expanding the public transport offer in the VOR by around 21,000 train journeys or 2.5 million train kilometers per year (from the current 46.6 million to 49.1 million). The WESTbahn starts in Vienna Westbahnhof, stops in the VOR network area in St. Pölten and Amstetten and continues to Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich.

“Welcome to VOR”

Especially on the Westbahn route, which is used by many passengers, especially commuters, the WESTbahn brings noticeably more capacity and thus also a significant improvement in the offer in the VOR. In addition, the overall system of public transport in the eastern region will become more permeable and this will bring further advantages for our passengers.”, say VOR managing directors Karin Zipperer and Wolfgang Schroll.

We are pleased that by joining the VOR we can now also offer people in the eastern region a pleasant travel experience in our modern double-decker trains. In terms of ecological sustainability, we hope that we will also create an incentive for everyone who does not travel by train every day to switch from cars to rail whenever possible.“, add the two WESTbahn managing directors Thomas Posch and Florian Kazalek.

WESTbahn quality now also in the VOR

WESTbahn has already accepted BEFORE KlimaTickets as travel documents on its trains. As a “partner in the VOR”, WESTbahn now runs from Amstetten to Vienna Westbahnhof at the VOR tariff.

The private railway offers four WESTcafés per train, gender-separated toilets, sockets at all seats and WiFi. Stepless entrances and wide entrance doors enable rapid passenger exchange and thus short stays in the stations, which have a positive effect on punctuality. Even in “Standard Class”, which travelers with a VOR ticket can use, all passengers enjoy the comfort of leather seats.
