On Wednesday evening, the West Virginia Mountaineers bolstered their football roster by securing a commitment from highly regarded class of 2025 pass rusher Wilnerson Telemaque, a towering prospect standing 6’6″ and weighing 260 lbs, hailing from Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida.
The recruitment saga leading to Telemaque’s decision was fiercely competitive, with West Virginia facing significant challenges from Wisconsin and Georgia Tech. After initially pledging his commitment to the Badgers, Telemaque opted to decommit just last week. His decision was influenced by the persistent efforts and dedicated outreach of the WVU coaching staff. In addition to West Virginia, Telemaque weighed offers from a multitude of prominent programs, including Colorado, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Liberty, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pitt, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, and various others.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Telemaque noted, “The WVU staff is amazing, and I see I can get developed over there.” He specifically highlighted the positive relationship he has developed with Coach Andrew Jackson, stating, “My thoughts are he’s one of the most underrated coaches in the country.”
In his current season, Telemaque has demonstrated his formidable skills, amassing impressive statistics over eight games, including 16 tackles, three sacks, and three tackles for loss.
The commitment of Telemaque brings West Virginia’s total to 22 verbal commitments in their 2025 recruiting class. Notably, the early signing period for Division I football is scheduled to open on December 4th, just four days after the closing match of West Virginia’s regular season schedule.
