In the West Sea, lobster fishing has begun in earnest in season.
As soon as the net is cast, the fish comes up full of prawns full of flesh, but the expressions of the fishermen are not bright.
It is said that it is because of frozen consumer sentiment.
Reporter Kim Tae-wook covered the story.

During the 30-minute period when the tide changes from low tide to high tide, fishermen throw triple gillnets into the sea in order not to miss the only time when the lobster rushes in.
After a while, when the fishing net is lifted up, the delicacy of the fall season, prawns, are revealed in a transparent state full of nets.
Now is the season to treat them with a plump body. Daeha fishing in the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do will continue until November.

″It’s not the same as it used to be, and consumption is a little less, so the price is a little less, and fishermen now have a lot of difficulties.″
At Namdang Port in Hongseong, there is a sign saying that Japanese seafood is not handled and sold.
Merchants are complaining of difficulties, saying that the lobster festival is ahead, but following the discharge of contaminated water, the number of visits has fallen to less than half of the previous year.

″I’m worried regarding the contaminated water in Japan, but they say it doesn’t matter here yet, so I just expect a lot of customers to come.″
Until October, seafood festivals such as gizzards, prawns, and blue crabs will be held at Hongwon Port in Seocheon, Namdang Port in Hongseong, and Muchangpo in Boryeong.
In order to support fishermen suffering from the discharge of contaminated water, related budgets, such as promoting consumption of fish products, have been significantly expanded, but concerns over the uncertain future of whether permanent support can continue are hanging over fishing villages.
