west bad habit s jaishankar criticize god given right rahul gandhi remark

New Delhi: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday said that Western countries have long had a bad habit of commenting on others and think that they have a God-given right to speak in the internal affairs of other countries. Jaishankar was speaking during a ‘meet and greet’ event organized by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan in Karnataka. The External Affairs Minister was replying to a question regarding the remarks of Germany and the US on the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.

He said (for this) there are two reasons. This is because the West has long had a bad habit of commenting on others. They think that doing so (commenting on others) is their God-given right in some form or the other. They just have to learn from experience that if you keep commenting others will start commenting once morest you and they will not like it if that happens. I see that happening.

Raisina Dialogues 2023: Foreign Minister Jaishankar told how ‘Captain’ Modi’s way of working

He said, according to us, the other side of the truth is that you are inviting people to comment on you. Then more and more people are eager to comment. We have to stop extending generous invitation to the world saying India has problems and America and Europe why are you standing by and doing nothing?’

If someone from here (there) goes and says why are you standing silently and not saying anything, obviously they will comment. They are part of the problem, we are also part of the problem. And I think both need to be fixed.

S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister

In response to a question related to the culture of distributing free rubbers, Jaishankar said that some people in Delhi are its masters. They are doing this because they do not have the responsibility to raise resources, he said. You cannot run the country on the basis of freebies, he said. Somewhere, someone has got to pay for it. Whoever is giving away freebies here, is taking something somewhere else. He said that the culture of giving away freebies is a very irresponsible way of gaining popularity fast and is not sustainable.
