Werder Bremen: Defense alarm after bankruptcy in Heidenheim – Bundesliga

Lots of worries at Werder…

Not only his first defeat as a Werder coach should rankle Ole Werner (33). After the bankruptcy in Heidenheim (1: 2), the coach also has to tremble for three defensive forces.

Defense alarm at Werder!

For a long time there were almost no injuries at Werder – but now it’s getting worse: Before the kick-off in Heidenheim, the bad news that Ömer Toprak is out. The captain sustained a muscle injury in his calf during the final training session.

The calf of all things! Again and once more, Toprak has calf problems. The defensive anchor was injured in September and was therefore out for almost two months.

The diagnosis is still pending. Werner: “It’s being evaluated now, I can’t say anything specific regarding it yet.”

A longer failure of the defense chief would be painful for Werder in the fight for promotion. Because Marco Friedl was also injured in Heidenheim. The Austrian had to be replaced in pain following a rescue operation.

Werner: “Marco looks like he’s bruised his hip.”

In addition, defense substitute Lasse Mai had to leave at half-time due to knee problems. The Bayern loan didn’t cut a good figure anyway.
