Weltklasse: Fraser-Pryce does not disappoint at Letzigrund – rts.ch

The 2022 edition of the Weltklasse saw several pick performances for the Diamond League Finals. Like for example the victory of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m, in 10”65.

The Helvetians were discreet at Letzigrund, such as Simon Ehammer who had to settle for 5th place in the long run with a jump of 7m93. The bronze medalist of the Worlds left the victory to the Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou (8m42).

The women’s sprint races, however, did not disappoint. Starting with the 100m where the queen this season is indeed called Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The five-time world champion preferred to call it back by cutting the line in 10”65. The consistency of SAFP is impressive. At 35, she managed her 9th race in the 10”60, the 7th this season!

Visibly tired following a long season, Mujinga Kambundji finished 5th in the 200m in 22”65, a time far from her usual standards. World champion Shericka Jackson won in 21”80.

The 100m hurdles offered a good show with the victory of Tobi Amusan in 12”29. The world record holder broke the meeting record and once once more beat Olympic champion Jasmine Camachio-Quinn, 4th in 12”49. Ditaji Kambundji finished 9th in 13”22.

Three MPMs

Over 1500m, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has proven that he is definitely the master. The Norwegian dominated the race for a final 400m of fire. Timothy Cheruiyot tried to hang on, but Ingebrigtsen didn’t slow down to post the best performance of the year in 3:29.02.

Another performance of choice, the 48”99 over 400m by Marileidy Paulino. The Dominican achieved the best time of the year by beating her personal best by 0”21. The men’s 800m saw Emmanuel Korir seize the MPM in 1’43”26.

Noah Lyles did not get his MPM established in Eugene at the Worlds (19”31) over 200m, but he broke the meeting record in 19”52. Yulimar Rojas logically won the women’s triple jump with a jump to 15m28. Yaroslava Mahuchikh did the same at height with a bar at 2m03. As for Mondo Duplantis, he set the record straight by crossing 6m07 on the pole.
