Tankers with Russian oil continue to call at European ports, despite the restrictions imposed by the European Union, according to Die Welt. Since February 24, regarding 2.4 million barrels of oil have been exported from Russia daily.
The author of the article notes that this is due to the actions of Greek companies. “While many European and American dealers, oil companies and shipping companies have cut off all contact with Russian fleet operators, Greek shipowners continue to expand their business in Russia,” the article says.
In particular, the tanker Nissos Rhenia took on board Russian oil in Rotterdam and sailed to Singapore. Many tanker routes reach China, India and South Korea, and freight rates have tripled.
In April, 190 tankers left Russian ports, 76 of them under the Greek flag. Thus, Greece has tripled the rate of transportation of Russian oil.
At the same time, Greece opposes the oil embargo, which is going to be introduced at the EU level. It is emphasized that the tanker fleet of Greece is 716 vessels, and this is more than that of China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore combined.
