Well-known figures in the new Transitional government in Burkina Faso

Less than 48 hours following his appointment, Prime Minister Albert Ouédraogo has just made the list of his team public. It was during a special edition on public television shortly following 10 p.m.

Certain personalities of the deposed regime of Roch Marc Christian Kaboré sign their return, but there are also new faces. Six women are among the 25 personalities chosen to lead this government of the Transition. And the first three ministerial positions are held by names well known to Burkinabè.

Yero Boly, who worked for several years alongside former President Blaise Compaoré as ambassador and minister, signs his return as Minister of State to the President of Faso, in charge of Social Cohesion and National Reconciliation . Brigadier General Aimé Barthelemy Simporé becomes Minister of State and retains the portfolio of Defense and Veterans Affairs, a position he held in the last government of Roch Marc Christian Kaboré before the coup d’état of January 24th.

Colonel-Major Omer Bationo is the brand new Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security. He was previously the Secretary General of National Defense.

The former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Maitre Bathélémy Kere is now the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, in charge of relations with the institutions.

Director Valérie Kaboré will take care of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism.

At the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Social Protection, we find Bassolma Bazié, ex-secretary general of the powerful General Confederation of Labor of Burkina.

The economist, writer and political analyst Lionel Bilgo also entered the government as Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages.
