Insolvency proceedings have been opened at the regional court in Wiener Neustadt over the assets of Käserei Gloggnitz GmbH. According to the AKV, an application for renovation has not yet been submitted on Tuesday. The company became known in September in connection with Listeria. There were eight cases of illness in Vienna, three of which were fatal. The cheese factory was considered a possible source. The public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt is still investigating.
According to AKV, the reasons for the slide into insolvency are not known. As part of the procedure, it will have to be checked whether the company will be continued or restructured and whether the existing assets will be inventoried and valued. “Only following these investigations will a statement on the creditors’ prospects of satisfaction be possible,” it said in a broadcast. Attorney Andreas Wippel from Neunkirchen was appointed as insolvency administrator. The examination meeting will take place on February 7th.
Problems
According to the broadcast, insolvency proceedings were already pending at the Regional Court of Wiener Neustadt over the assets of Käserei Gloggnitz GmbH. This ended with a restructuring plan with a quota of 20 percent. According to information from the AKV, this restructuring plan was not fully implemented.
In September, there was a recall for kajmak, drinking yoghurt and cream cheese from the company. Previously, routine cluster analyzes carried out by the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) had shown that eight diseases that had occurred since 2020 can be traced back to an identical Listeria strain. A connection with the company was always rejected by the boss.
The public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt began investigations. The company boss is now the accused, said authority spokesman Erich Habitzl on Tuesday at the APA request. The suspicion of negligent bodily harm and grossly negligent homicide remains in the room.
