The excellent wedding baker Isabell Kliaras reveals to what extent this tradition can be combined with the modern bakery. She reveals that younger couples are more likely to choose the more modern route these days. These are primarily modern cakes and dessert creations. These are taken from traditional Burgenland cuisine and refined with finer textures and very light creams, says Kliaras.

Career as a career changer
While the women of a family used to get together to bake for a wedding, many wedding couples today leave the baking to a professional. Like Isabell Kliaras, for example. She studied economics, then made a career as a career changer in confectionery.
She made it to the championship within a few years. Kliaras does not change the older, beneficial and tasty baking tradition at all, but only presents it in a new modern design, reveals the wedding baker.
“Passion is important for the job”
Kliaras is indeed in a class of her own with the creations that come out of her small workshop in Kohfid. For the second time in a row she won the Austrian Wedding Award with her sweet table. The secret is that she loves her job. It’s a lot of fun for her and she puts her whole heart into it, she says. (Broadcast reference: “People with history(s)”, March 6, 2023.
