The paths for professional internationalization in the area of information technology from Portugal will be presented by specialists in international mobility and talent recruitment. The webinar “Portugal’s doors are open to IT professionals: learn how to build your future in Europe” will feature Joana Oliveira, territory manager of Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Fernando Belezas, executive director of Instituto Empresarial do Tâmega (IET) , center for innovation, business and business incubation in the north of Portugal.
Organized by Move, a company specialized in international mobility with solutions for recruiting and regularizing foreign professionals in Portugal, the event is free and registration is open. On February 9, the program will begin at 7:30 pm, Brazilian time (10:30 pm in Portugal), with the presentation “What professional profile do European corporations aspire to? With Amazon Web Service (AWS) territory manager Joana Oliveira. The specialist will talk regarding the work of AWS, the profile of professionals in the corporation and how the hiring process works.
Then, the executive director of the IET, Fernando Belezas, will present the potential of the cities in the interior of Portugal in terms of technological development and the generation of new job opportunities for technology professionals. According to him, it is important that IT professionals, who are interested in building a career in the European Union, get to know the Portuguese regions, their innovative projects and compare the cost and quality of life before choosing opportunities. Beauties points out that in the Tâmega region, for example, there are more than 200 vacancies open at the moment. The demand for technology professionals is growing in Europe, there are studies that point to a shortage of around 800,000 IT professionals on the continent.
The moderator of the webinar, the specialist in Strategic Management of Business and Foreign Trade, Erika Santos, who is business manager at Move, says that Portugal is currently seen as a technology hub on the rise in Europe and has experienced a moment of expansion with unicorns and referral programs for companies and startups. Recently, the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, launched Fábrica de Unicórnios, which aims to encourage and attract startups to develop innovative business models.
Erika comments that investments in the technology sector have made the country attractive to technology professionals from all over the world, including Brazilians. This scenario was decisive for systems analyst Felipe Freitas, 36 years old, to choose Portugal to start the internationalization of his career. Born in São Paulo, he moved to Lisbon in August 2021, but was already working professionally for the country remotely.
Head of Technology at Martins Castro, Freitas is also participating in the event and will talk regarding his experience and professional development in Portugal. For him, the country has an audacious plan to become one of the biggest technology hubs in the world, which is stimulating for professionals in the area. “The high incentives of the public sector in this area, such as, for example, the organization of the WebSummit, the possibilities of exchanging knowledge with people from all over the world made me choose the Portuguese territory for this journey in Europe”. In Freitas’ view, Portugal has everything to consolidate itself as a reference in the area of technology, also for the quality of life, safety and friendly culture with professionals from other countries. “The country wants to receive foreigners and has created conditions for that”.
