Weather: Upheaval – Cold “invasion” is coming from Ukraine

The meteorologist, director of the EMY, Thodoris Kolidas, points out in his post that from next week there will be a lot of instability, “unorthodox”, as he characterizes it, in the country with local rains or storms mainly at noon and in the afternoon in the continental areas.

He explains that the cold air masses, which will change the weather scene, are coming from the NE, specifically Ukraine.

Through the Black Sea they will be over our area. He says this circulation is not that common at this time and points out that if the systems and cold masses were coming from the Central Mediterranean, they could cause higher amounts of rain.

“At the beginning of the new week we will have more local and selective instability, mainly in parts of the western continental core, northern country, with an emphasis on Thrace (locally and northern Aegean), Peloponnese and locally with possible extensions to Thessaly, and mountainous Sterea, but also with short or very long periods of sunshine. From next Thursday, the instability will intensify. It will concern almost the entire mainland country with intense outbreaks in places (Storms), and possibly in some mountains, mainly in Crete.
