The weather is wintry with rain and storms today, Tuesday 5/3/2024, while hailstorms will occur mainly in the Aegean.
Snow will fall in the continental mountains and semi-mountainous parts of the northwestern country at the time when the winds will blow strengthened with intensities of up to 7 Beaufort.
In more detail, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, rains and storms will occur almost throughout the country. The effects will be locally strong in the South Ionian, Peloponnese and especially in Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the islands of the North and East Aegean, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese. The phenomena in the Eastern Continent and in Evia may also be temporary. There will be hailstorms in places, with an emphasis on the Aegean. At the same time, snowfall will occur in the continental mountains, while it will also snow in semi-mountainous parts of Western Macedonia and Epirus.
The temperature will vary in Western Macedonia from 2 to 9 degrees, in the rest of Northern Greece from 5 to 13, in Epirus from 3 to 14, in Thessaly from 4 to 15 degrees, in the rest of the mainland from 6 to 15-17 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 8 to 15 and on the Aegean islands from 11 to 16-17 degrees, while in Crete the maximum will reach locally 19-20 degrees Celsius.
In Attica we expect rains and storms that will have stopped by the morning. Unsettled weather is expected for the rest of the day with the possibility of sporadic rain or storms mainly during the midday and followingnoon hours. Winds will blow from southwesterly directions with intensities up to 5 Beaufort, but will progressively turn to west-northwesterly with the same intensities and locally in the west will strengthen to 6 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 10 to 15-16 degrees.
In Thessaloniki we expect clouds with rain and sporadic storms. The phenomena will weaken until the morning, while for the rest of the day and until the late followingnoon the weather will remain unstable with rains in places and at times. Winds will blow from variable directions with gusts up to 4 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 9 to 13 degrees.
