Ah, November is upon us, ladies and gentlemen! You know what that means—time for that delightful cocktail of cold snaps, gusty winds, and the ever-so-charming wet snow! Thank you, weather forecasters, for reminding us that Mother Nature can throw more surprises than a blind date with a magician!
Worsening Weather Conditions
As if we needed another reminder that autumn is a moody teenager in Ukraine this year, we’ve enjoyed primarily warm weather well into October. But brace yourselves, because as we get to the end of this week, it’s like someone turned on the freezer, and it’s all rain, sleet, and a sprinkle of snow! Meteorologist Igor Kibalchich, who frankly deserves a medal for trying to make sense of Ukraine’s weather, says we’re in for a real treat from Mother Nature! Expect temperatures to drop like your favorite reality TV star’s career. Welcome to ‘When Cyclones Attack: Ukraine Edition’.
Yes, under the benevolent influence of high pressure (the warm kind), we’ll experience some calm weather, but soon enough, those loving clouds will bring the rain, gusty winds, and—oh wait—snow! And you thought planning for the weekend was difficult.
Weather for a Week
For the weather aficionados among us, today promises a rain-free experience, so put away the umbrellas for now—unless you’re planning to catch them flying away, which is a real sport if you try hard enough! Tonight, we’re in for +5…+10°C, and during the day, +12…+17°C unless you happen to be, oh I don’t know, some poor soul in the western part trying to enjoy a balmy day with +8…+11°C.
By October 30th, expect the western regions to be showered with light rain, while the rest of the nation gets a foggy greeting. That’s right, folks—fog! As if your morning commute needed any more drama. Just remember to steer clear of any mysterious figures cloaked in fog. Might be a ghost or just your neighbor who forgot his ravishing Halloween costume!
What Will the Beginning of November be Like?
As we take our first strides into November, get ready for a mixed bag! A light rain might fall in the far east while the rest of the country welcomes a sprinkle of the good ol’ wet stuff. And just as you were ready to pack away your autumn wear, here come the snowflakes! Right in the middle of your Saturday plans! Thanks, weather!
The weekend of November 2-3 looks like a throwback to those harsh winter days when even your thermostat is begging for a break. Light wet snow and snow pellets will make their debut in the northern regions. It’s like winter’s forcing its way into the party, trying to relive its glory days. Seriously, whoever booked this cyclone for the weekend needs to be sent back to forecasting school!
Magnetic Storms
As if dodging wet snow wasn’t enough, brace yourself for magnetic storms. Yes, you heard that right! If you’ve got a pounding headache or feel a bit off, don’t fret; blame the cosmos! Natalya Didenko offers sage advice: if you feel queasy, consult your doctor and maybe throw in a bit of chakra balancing for extra flair! Who knew bad weather came with cosmic side effects?
Abnormal Heat in Ukraine
And for those who thought this summer was uncharacteristically hot, you were right! It seems the planet’s just throwing more parties than it should, thanks to anticyclones and climate change shenanigans. Vera Balabukh pointed out that the warm weather was like a sneaky guest—showing up uninvited and overstaying its welcome. The result? A prolonged summer that makes autumn feel like a mere afterthought.
What Will Winter Be Like in Ukraine?
But don’t worry; winter this year promises not to throw too many tantrums. Vera says temperatures might remain 1-2 degrees above the norm. So, if you plan on strutting around in flip-flops during winter, you’re in luck—just don’t tell your grandma! Trends indicate that winters here might just feel like a mild autumn. It’s the new normal, darling!
What to Wear to Stay Warm?
As we dive deeper into the briskness of late autumn, layer up! Seriously, folks, think of layering like preparing for an onion—because you’re going to peel back those chilly layers to find warmth! A light, breathable base layer topped off with a thicker layer is a winning combo. Sure, it’s not a fashion statement, but no one’s going to judge you when they see you’re not shivering like a chihuahua in December.
In summary, folks, this November promises to be full of weather surprises. So grab those umbrellas, layer up, and remember to bundle up those positive vibes too! Because as they say—everyone loves a good snow day… until it’s Tuesday!

Cold snap, gusts of wind, and wet snow are set to greet residents as we move into November, according to weather forecasters. However, for the beginning of the week, there will be an opportunity to bask in comfortable temperatures. The question lingers: when is the best time to enjoy a stroll outdoors, and when should you bundle up in warm clothes? Get the exclusive details from TSN.UA.
Worsening Weather Conditions
This autumn has largely gifted Ukrainians with unseasonably warm spells, particularly in the final days of October. This pleasing trend won’t last long, as a notable drop in temperature, alongside rain and potential sleet in various regions, is forecasted for the end of the week. Meteorologist Igor Kibalchich from Meteoprog has verified these expectations.
Due to a high-pressure system, Ukraine will experience a brief period of calm, relatively warm weather with minimal rainfall. However, significant changes are looming as we transition from October to November, influenced by active cyclonic behavior moving from northern Europe. This shift is anticipated to bring about a drastic temperature reduction, strong gusts of wind, and brief rain showers, which could evolve into sleet and snow pellets in the western and northern regions,” Kibalchich emphasized.
Weather for the Week
Today’s weather forecast indicates a predominantly dry day, with only minor rain expected in scattered areas. Nighttime temperatures should range from +5 to +10 °C, increasing to +12 to +17 °C during the day, and slightly cooler in the western regions where temperatures will hover around +8 to +11 °C. Forecasts for Wednesday and Thursday present the following:
“Light rain is anticipated on Wednesday, October 30, particularly in western Ukraine, although the rest of the country is likely to remain dry. Fog may appear in some areas at night and in the morning. Winds will vary from 3 to 8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range between +3 and +8 °C, dropping to around 0 °C in the northeast; daytime highs will reach +9 to +14 °C, with locations like Crimea and Transcarpathia potentially reaching up to +16 °C. Thursday, October 31, will see increased chances of light and sporadic rain across most regions, with wind speeds in the western areas increasing to 7 to 12 m/s, and gusts can reach up to 15-20 m/s during the day. Nighttime temperatures will vary from +5 to +10 °C, dousing colder areas with temperatures down to +3°C; by day, temperatures will range from +10 to +15 °C, peaking at around +17 °C in Odessa and Crimea.”
What Will the Beginning of November Be Like?
On November 1, light rain is forecasted in the far east, Azov region, and Crimea, with additional precipitation expected in the northwestern regions during the day. For many parts of Ukraine, however, it will remain dry for the most part. Heading into the weekend, most of the regions can expect to experience both rain and the season’s first snowfall.
On Saturday, November 2, an active cyclone will usher in unstable and windy weather characterized by light to moderate rain. Expect the northern and sometimes western areas to witness light wet snow and snow pellets during the day. The wind is likely to blow from the northwest at 9 to 14 m/s with gusts ranging from 17 to 22 m/s. Afternoon temperatures will fluctuate between +6 and +11 °C, dipping to around +2 to +7 °C in western and northern regions. On Sunday, November 3, minimal precipitation is expected overnight, with possible rain mixed with sleet across northern and western territories during daylight hours; other areas will experience dry weather. The west wind will maintain speeds of 7 to 12 m/s, with isolated gusts at night reaching 15-17 m/s. Overnight will be cold, with temperatures dropping to between -3 and +2 °C, while daytime highs will only reach +2 to +7 °C.
Forecaster Natalya Didenko has also issued a caution regarding the abrupt cooling trend expected this upcoming weekend. “What’s important to note is that next weekend will starkly contrast with the current warmth. On November 2-3, anticipate a notable drop in temperatures at night leading to light frost, with daytime highs struggling to reach between +4 and +10 degrees on Saturday, and further dropping to a chilly +1 to +6 degrees on Sunday. It’s crucial to make the most of the coming days, as they will still be delightfully warm,” Didenko explained.
Magnetic Storms
Additionally, forecaster Natalya Didenko has delivered a significant warning. Those experiencing severe headaches or bodily discomfort should consider the possibility of magnetic storms. Reports indicate recent fluctuations in solar and terrestrial magnetic activity.
“Don’t panic; consult with a physician or reflect on what has previously alleviated similar issues because these effects should only persist for a couple of days. As optimistic individuals, we should seek beauty amidst the discomforts—solar flares may also create conditions conducive to viewing the magnificent auroras, even within urban settings, so keep an eye out,” she urged.
Abnormal Heat in Ukraine
Many will recall the heat that lingered throughout summer, starting in mid-May and stretching into the first weeks of October. Meteorologist Vera Balabukh elaborated on the factors behind this year’s unusual weather phenomena.
“The significantly elevated temperatures recorded in September and early October were largely attributed to a pronounced anticyclone, which allowed the atmosphere to heat up markedly in cloudless conditions. Additionally, warm and dry air masses from the subtropics contributed to these temperatures entering Ukraine,” she noted. Balabukh further added that the overarching effects of climate change, including intensified greenhouse effects, correlate with these unusual patterns.
Moreover, Balabukh mentioned that heightened solar activity, particularly a 25-year solar cycle reaching its peak in October 2024, has contributed to rising temperatures. “An analysis of existing climate trends indicates a potential lengthening of summer in Ukraine, signaling that the prolonged, hot conditions witnessed this year may soon become the new normal,” she stated.
What Will Winter Be Like in Ukraine?
Recently, Vera Balabukh shared insights regarding anticipated winter conditions in Ukraine. She predicts that temperatures throughout winter are expected to remain 1-2 degrees above average, likely ranging from +5 to -5 degrees. Notably, there has been a historical trend in recent decades toward milder winters, with January temperatures increasingly resembling that of November.
However, she cautions that meteorologists globally are observing potential challenges this winter stemming from the lesser-understood phenomenon of sudden stratospheric warming. This aspect will play a key role in determining whether frigid Arctic air will reach Ukraine.
Natalya Ptukha, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, also reiterated that winter is unlikely to be overly harsh. Though early to provide conclusive forecasts, trends suggest the continuation of milder conditions. She pointed out that temperatures this autumn have generally trended higher than climatic norms, despite brief cold interludes earlier in October.
What to Wear to Stay Warm?
One essential guideline for maintaining warmth is to choose the right clothing. The layering principle—wearing several lighter garments on top of one another—proves effective as layers of air can better retain warmth compared to a single thicker piece. While no single approach exists, several practical tips can undoubtedly enhance comfort, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Health.
Ultimately, meteorologists have acknowledged that November will deliver numerous weather surprises for Ukrainians. Predictions of an unusually warm start to November have also been coupled with discussions regarding the first snow of this month.
