The weather will change with the transition to calendar autumn. The equinox will take place this Saturday, September 23. The temperatures will have dropped significantly but clearings might become necessary for the weekend.
L’autumnal equinox 2023 will take place on Saturday September 23 this year. Temperatures will have dropped significantly and will even be slightly below normal. On the other hand, if you wait for the spring tides, they will be delayed by a week compared to the equinox, and this will be at the end of the month. Finally, you will probably be able to enjoy nice sunny spells.
A Saturday that is still partly unstable and cool
On Saturday, instability might still affect the eastern flank of the country and our mountains, following the disturbance on Friday. This may eventually evacuate more quickly, but while waiting for the situation to be reliable, plan for showers in the east, coolness in the mountains and a few snowflakes from 1800 m. The wind will blow from the southeast and clear the sky. Finally, in the west, clearings might become necessary with a light wind and a good feeling.
Temperatures would barely be seasonal, with 17 to 19°C in the followingnoon in the northern half, and 18 to 24°C in the south.
Sunday: a beautiful day ahead?
An anticyclone will begin to build up once more over France, and should then characterize the end of September. It might, however, mark a weakness in the northwest with scattered rains in Brittany, Pays de la Loire and lower Normandy, but the progression of this disturbance will perhaps be slowed down.
Anywhere else might be sunny. The morning would then be chilly, with temperatures falling to 4 or 5°C in the countryside, with a few patches of fog. It smells like autumn. But in the followingnoon, with a light wind and good sunshine, it should be very mild, around 20 to 23°C. Note that the mistral should remain in the southeast.
