**Interview with Dr. Elena Karas, Meteorologist at the Hellenic National Meteorological Service**
**Interviewer:** Good evening, Dr. Karas. Thank you for joining us today. It seems like the weather is about to turn quite stormy across the country. Can you tell us what to expect for tomorrow?
**Dr. Karas:** Good evening! Yes, the forecast for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, indicates widespread rain and storms across many regions of Greece. The Ionian Islands and the western mainland are expected to see the most significant rainfall, with some areas experiencing sporadic strong storms.
**Interviewer:** That sounds intense. Are there any specific areas that might be more affected?
**Dr. Karas:** Certainly. The western regions, especially Epirus and parts of Thessaly, will likely face the brunt of the storms. We might also see some light snowfall in the highlands of Epirus and Macedonia, which is a bit unusual for this time of year.
**Interviewer:** It seems like winds will be an issue as well. Can you elaborate on that?
**Dr. Karas:** Yes, winds will vary depending on the region. We expect southeasterly winds at about 4 to 5 Beaufort for many areas, reaching up to 6 Beaufort in the Ionian early in the day. Eastern regions will experience slightly calmer conditions but can still expect gusts of 3 to 5 Beaufort.
**Interviewer:** And what about temperatures? How are they looking with this change in weather?
**Dr. Karas:** The temperature is expected to rise slightly, particularly in the west and south. We can anticipate highs of around 15 degrees in the north and between 18 to 21 degrees Celsius in many areas, with the southern regions like the Dodecanese and Crete reaching even warmer temperatures between 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
**Interviewer:** That’s a bit of a mixed bag—rain, storms, and warmer temperatures. What should people keep in mind while preparing for this weather?
**Dr. Karas:** Absolutely. We advise residents to stay updated on local weather alerts, especially in areas anticipating storms. It’s wise to secure any outdoor items and prepare for potential power outages. Being cautious while traveling, particularly in storm-prone regions, is also essential.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Karas, for your insights! Let’s hope everyone stays safe and well-prepared for the upcoming weather.
**Dr. Karas:** Thank you for having me. Stay safe and cozy, everyone!
