A thunderclap is not excluded, according to the latest forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). The wind will blow strong inland, very strong at sea, moving from southwest to west with possible gusts up to 80 or even 90 km/h. These conditions have also led the IRM to place the Belgian territory in code yellow for this Thursday. In the followingnoon, the weather will quickly become drier with sunny spells from the west. Therefollowing, showers will develop especially in the north of the country. The maxima will be between 7 and 10 degrees in Upper Belgium and between 10 and 12 degrees in Lower and Middle Belgium.
During the night, the cloudiness will be variable to sometimes abundant with a few more showers. On the heights of the Ardennes, the showers may adopt a winter character. In the second part of the night, the tendency for showers will decrease but more medium clouds will be present from the French border. The minima will be between 1 degree in the Hautes Fagnes and 6 degrees at sea. The wind will decrease in intensity and will generally become moderate from the southwest at the end of the night.
On Friday, the weather will be very cloudy to overcast as a new area of precipitation will pass over northern France. In Flanders, a little rain will be possible especially in the followingnoon. South of the Sambre and Meuse furrow, the risk of more intense rains will increase and in the south of the country, we can expect quite a lot of precipitation which later may take on a winter character. The maxima will vary between 2 degrees on the summits of the Ardennes to 7 or 8 degrees in the plain.
