As May 14 approaches, the day when wearing a mask will no longer be mandatory in Quebec, several pharmacist associations are asking to continue wearing a mask in pharmacies.

“Wearing a mask in pharmacies is first and foremost a protective measure for others, in particular the most vulnerable people, such as the elderly and immunocompromised people”, pleaded Wednesday by press release the president of the Order of pharmacists. of Quebec, Bertrand Bolduc.
The Order of Pharmacists of Quebec and the associations of salaried pharmacists (APPSQ), owner pharmacists (AQPP), as well as chains and banners of pharmacies (ABCPQ), recommend wearing a mask in pharmacies in order to avoid outbreaks, where vaccines are still administered.
“The Order invites the public to show understanding and cooperation with pharmacists and their teams and to wear a mask when a visit to the pharmacy is necessary, especially in the sections expressly designated for this purpose”, have– they stated.
This warning is part of the momentum to relax health measures across the province.
The acting national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau, revealed on Wednesday that “the epidemiological situation is really going in the right direction” and confirmed that wearing a mask will no longer be compulsory in public places from May 14.
While the number of deaths and hospitalizations continues to drop, as does the number of absences among health care workers linked to COVID-19, caution is still advocated by the government and the administration of the third highly recommended dose for ages 18 and older.
