Wearing a mask outdoors again compulsory in certain places in Paris

The compulsory wearing of a mask outdoors is making a comeback in certain places in the capital. The prefect of police of Paris, Didier Lallement, issued a new order on Monday January 17 on the compulsory wearing of masks in public spaces after the cancellation, last week by the administrative court, of a first order in the reason that it violated individual freedoms.

The new order thus lists “a series of circumstances and places in which the population density does not guarantee, without wearing a mask, proper respect for barrier gestures”, explains the prefecture in a press release.

This list includes in particular markets, all gatherings of at least ten people, bus stops, areas around stations, entrances to shopping centers during opening hours, schools and universities during entry and outings or places of worship during services.

Similar decrees are taken in each of the departments of the Ile-de-France region, specifies the press release.

On Thursday, January 13, the Paris administrative court suspended the prefect’s initial order on the obligation to wear a mask outdoors on the grounds that it violated individual freedoms.
