Giorgia Meloni and Matteo Piantedosi attended the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum in Libya. An event that did not go down well with the NGO Sea-Watch International, which on X, the former Twitter, heavily attacked the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior: “Italian government politicians Meloni and Piantedosi are in Tripoli today to work with the Prime Minister of Western Libya Dabaiba on their dystopian migration policy. Whatever they are talking regarding, it is probably aimed at increasing the number of killings in the Mediterranean. We wish them all the worst”.
Tommaso Foti, leader of the Brothers of Italy group in the Chamber, responded in kind to the unprecedented words: “The tone and terms used on X by Sea Watch are shameful. Commenting on the Prime Minister and Interior Minister’s mission in Libya, they wished them all harm ‘from the bottom’ of their hearts. The incitement to hatred towards a government that is fighting to combat traffickers of death and create the basis for guaranteeing better living conditions in Africa thanks to the Mattei plan is extremely serious. We ask for unanimous condemnation for what happened.”
