Celebrating the first Armed Forces Day since the inauguration of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
It was held at Gyeryong University, Chungnam, which is called the heart of the Armed Forces for the first time in six years.
With North Korea firing four short-range ballistic missiles in a week, President Yun’s message focused on warning North Korea and strengthening the ROK-U.S. alliance.
He urged North Korea to make a decision to denuclearize for peace and common prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, and said that it would respond ‘overwhelmingly’ to provocations.

“If North Korea attempts to use nuclear weapons, it will face a determined and overwhelming response from the ROK-U.S. alliance and our military.”
In fact, Korean-style three-axis system forces such as multiple rockets and surface-to-ground ballistic missiles were mobilized to the site, and in a video explaining the three-axis system, the Hyunmoo-type missile, whose specific specifications are top secret, was also revealed.
“This includes the high-powered Hyunmoo ballistic missile with the world’s largest warhead weight.”
Unlike former President Moon Jae-in, who emphasized the declaration of an end to the war with North Korea at the Armed Forces Day ceremony a year ago, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration’s stance of responding to the North Korean threat with a ‘strong defense force’ was clearly revealed.
To this end, strengthening the ROK-U.S. alliance was emphasized once more.

“The government will further strengthen the ROK-U.S. joint exercises and exercises to realize an ‘alliance in action’ that strongly responds to North Korean provocations and threats.”
Meanwhile, today’s ceremony was attended by key figures from the military and political circles, and President Yoon and President Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, met and greeted for the first time since the March presidential election TV debate.
There were only brief greetings between President Yoon and the leader of the opposition party.
Originally, there was talk of meeting over the issue of people’s livelihood before the trip abroad, but as the Democratic Party passed the proposal to dismiss the foreign minister and the president rejected it, a strong confrontation is expected to continue for the time being.
