Representative Magdy El-Welily, a member of the Rice Division of the Grain Chamber in the Federation of Industries, said that rice is an Egyptian commodity and is not imported, but it is witnessing a breakdown due to the lack of rules, as the speculators may not work for months.
A member of the Rice Division added, during a telephone interview with the media, Amr Adib, on the “Al-Hekaya” program, which is broadcast on the “mbc Egypt” satellite channel, this evening, Monday, that there is Egyptian rice on the land of Egypt and imports are carried out from abroad despite our need for foreign currency, we resorted to importing 50 A thousand tons of rice from India, although rice is a commodity that is grown locally and in light of Egypt’s need for hard currency.
The member of the Rice Division added that there are groups of society that see the chaos as benefiting from it, stressing that the rice crop this year will be large, and the productivity of barley rice is more than 5 million tons of barley, and we will not be exposed to a crisis.
Representative Magdy El-Welily added that 48,000 tons have been supplied to the government’s mills so far, considering that just as the major entities in the rice industry have achieved great gains, they must stand by the state in these circumstances, expecting that the measures taken by the state to control the market will soon bear fruit. .
