This came in an interview with Polyansky with the Novosti Agency, where he called for waiting until the end of the week after the end of high-level meetings in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings, before drawing conclusions about whether the West had listened to Russia’s warnings about allowing Kiev to strike deep into Russian territory.
Politico had previously reported that the United States and Britain may announce, during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly, held from 24-30 in New York, that they have granted Kiev permission to use Western weapons to strike deep inside Russian territory.
“It is difficult to assess this at the moment, let’s wait until the end of the high-level week, because there will be a lot of meetings, speculations and talks, so let’s wait and see how it will be, and what frameworks will be put forward during the discussions,” Polyansky continued.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated that NATO countries are not only discussing the possible use of Western long-range weapons by Kiev, but are actually deciding whether to directly participate in the Ukrainian conflict, adding that the direct involvement of Western countries in the Ukrainian conflict will change its essence, and Russia will be forced to make decisions based on the threats it faces in this way.
For his part, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, pointed out that NATO countries, by giving Kiev the green light to use long-range weapons, are starting a direct war with Russia.
