‘We will guarantee that the impact of inflation does not fall on the most vulnerable sectors’

President Alberto Fernández affirmed this Monday that the national government is seeking “guarantee that the impact of inflation does not fall on the pockets of Argentines and fundamentally on the most vulnerable sectors” by announcing a set of measures to strengthen the income presented at Government House.

“There is an urgency in the most neglected sectors of society”affirmed the President this followingnoon, following which he maintained that this does not mean disregarding formal workers who are in a stage of reopening joint ventures.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, announced that the Government would send a bill to Congress to tax the “unexpected income product of the war”which raises an aliquot on the component of that profit that focuses on a group of companies with high net taxable profits of more than 1,000 million pesos, which in 2021 was only 3.2% of the companies.

The criteria for imposing the rate include that the real taxable net income must have grown significantly in 2022 compared to 2021 and, in addition, a parameter will be included so that if the unexpected income is channeled towards productive reinvestment, the rate it will be less, said the minister during the announcement together with President Alberto Fernández in the White Room of the Casa Rosada.

Martín Guzmán argued that the national government’s “central objective is to guarantee the growth of the purchasing power of income throughout the labor and productive spectrum” when announcing a set of economic measures together with President Alberto Fernández, at Government House.

“Firstly, it is necessary to reinforce the income policy and, secondly, to work collectively to design mechanisms that manage to prevent this shock that the world and Argentina are experiencing from having unequal and regressive consequences,” the minister stated following assuring that “this year the economy continues to recover.

Guzmán also affirmed that “the fiscal, monetary and reserve accumulation goals have been met” and is in line with what had been planned with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and specified that “the primary fiscal deficit for the first quarter reached 0.25% of GDP”.
