“We will fight as long as it takes”

CARACAS.- “We will fight as long as it takes and we will do it as quickly as possible,” says Venezuelan opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, In an interview given from Venezuela to the Mexican journalist Leon Krauze.

“We all fear for our safety and now is the time to act with prudence, responsibility but also with courage,” he added in the online chat.

The Venezuelan leader also said that at this moment in Venezuela there is absolute terror.

“From the first hours (President Nicolás) Maduro chose to dig in and resort to a wave of violence like we had never seen before… brutal,” he said.

Krauze asks him if he doesn’t see the temptation of the Mexican government to recognize Maduro’s victory.

María Corina responds that the evidence on the magnitude of the fraud is so overwhelming that “we are in an uncertain scenario where things change from one day to the next, and therefore I do not want to speculate on what will happen.”

“What I can assure you is that everyone, those three countries (Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, which are mediating to find a solution to the conflict), the Venezuelans and the Chavistas know that Edmundo (González Urrutia) won hands down…”

He also reiterated that he would not accept new elections, spoke about the fact that the majority of the military and police want a change and about the role that the United States should play.
