“These are false messages aimed at causing panic among the public in times of war,” the Israeli police said.

“We urge the public not to respond to these messages, ignore them and block the number from which the message was sent if possible,” the police said.

“I was shocked, I looked over and over and couldn’t believe or understand what I was reading,” said one 67-year-old woman who received the letters. “I don’t have any haters, I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I’m shocked. I fear these are threats sent as part of the national threat we’re facing right now, it’s a real concern.”

In turn, another man who received the same message, which gave his name and address and promised to “bury him next week,” said that he immediately informed the police.

The Hebrew website “Ynet” reported that last month, dozens of journalists in Israel received phone calls from people who identified themselves as “Anonymous for Justice” and spoke with a heavy Persian accent, according to the website.

Since then, WhatsApp and Telegram messages have also been sent to the same journalists in the name of the same group.

“We have hacked into the Israeli Defense Ministry and published some of its most secret documents. Send our message to your government officials: If you do not stop the war and the killing of oppressed Palestinian children, you will face serious events. Take our warning seriously. We are not joking with anyone,” the Ynet website reported.
