Al-Marsad newspaper: The pioneers of communication sites in Egypt circulated a video of the Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, in her first appearance following her absence for 7 months, due to her health conditions and the corruption case in which her ex-husband was involved using her name.
The video documented the minister’s meeting with the ministry’s leaders in an informal session at her home, where she spoke regarding the doctors’ responsibility towards patients and their role in receiving and treating any sick condition as a humanitarian, professional and moral duty, saying: “We will be held accountable before God for every patient.”
Last October, the Minister of Health submitted a request for an open leave, following she fell ill and had high blood pressure. The Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, was assigned to carry out the work of the Ministry of Health in addition to his responsibility in his ministry.
The leave came following a case of bribery was revealed in the ministry, in which the minister’s ex-husband and 4 of the ministry’s employees were accused. Investigations into the case revealed that the defendants mediated the reopening of two private hospitals in exchange for a bribe.
The investigations acquitted Dr. Hala Zayed, and confirmed that there were only 4 accused, including her ex-husband, who used her name to obtain bribery.
