The president of FAAND has no doubt that Filipe Cruz’s return to command of the senior men’s National Team will bring positive results inside and outside the African continent
The leader, justifying his thesis, points out that Filipe Cruz led the senior women’s team that came in eighth place at the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As a result, he says that the national seven will have an exemplary performance in the African event that will be held in Egypt, from the 19th to the 29th of January.
Even so, José do Amaral recognizes that the national team will have great difficulties in the African competition, as well as in guaranteeing qualification for the 2025 World Cup, highlighting that Angola will be the target to shoot down. “We welcome Filipe Cruz’s return to the men’s team.
We made a big investment in Filipe Cruz’s return. We chose the teacher because of his achievements in the sport and we think he is the right one.
Therefore, I believe we will have good results. He is a coach with a lot of quality”, admits the president of FAAND.
The director guarantees that the Angolan team will undergo training in the North of Portugal, where it will hold control games with local teams with the aim of increasing competitive and morale levels.
He reinforced that the Angolan team will face the teams from Cape Verde and the Republic of Congo, and with teams from ABC, as well as FC Porto.
In this continental event, the leader highlighted that Angola intends to improve its classification from the last edition (8th place), held in Egypt.
“We are going to intern in Portugal. We will leave on December 16th. We want to do a good test. The objective is to achieve a classification that can qualify us for the World Cup,” he said.
