This followingnoon, Senator PS Carlos Montes met with the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, in a key week for the formation of the new government with the formation of the future cabinet, whose announcement will be made this Friday 21 at 09:00 at the National Museum of Natural History.

During the day, the socialist came to the “Small Coin” to meet with the future President, in an appointment in which they would discuss the relationship of the PS with the Executive and maintain legislative coordination. “Us we are still legislating. The truth is that there are laws that can be approved with more fluidity now than later”, explained the parliamentarian at the end of the meeting with Boric.

Asked regarding what the role of his party would be in the new administration, Montes pointed out that “what the President proposes” must be respected, but he outlined some options, such as participation in the Political Committee.

“One of the dimensions is, without a doubt, some ministers, two ministers, I don’t know. Another possibility is that the party president is present at the weekly political committee, who It is a concrete way of participating and that has been used on other occasions (…) You have to see what the president says, I think he is quite in that direction, “he said.

As he said, in the community “it is in the general mood, the intention to collaborate so that the government does well, as best as possible, and that socialist energy is present.” On the other hand, Montes avoided referring directly to his possible appointment to the cabinet.

“We want to collaborate as much as possible with the president, that will depend on him, it does not depend on one”, responded when asked regarding his availability to take on a portfolio. Laughing, he accused “speculation” when he was told that he was the only representative of the PS who had personally met with Boric, in addition to its president, and said “sounds familiar” when one of the journalists asked directly regarding his possible appointment in the Ministry of Housing.

“I might tell you that things are in process, cabinet, undersecretaries, the form of integration in the government decision-making process, the way of evaluating what is being done, which is typical of all governments at this stage” , he added.

Finally, following being requested on if he will attend the cabinet announcement that is scheduled for this Friday the 21st, Montes limited himself to saying that “it is possible.”
