BEIRUT, Feb. 16, 2022 (Xinhua) The Lebanese Shiite (Hezbollah) Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah announced today (Wednesday) that his party began converting its missiles into “precision missiles” a few years ago, as it began manufacturing drones some time ago.
This came in a televised speech delivered by Nasrallah at a festival held by (Hezbollah) in the southern suburb of Beirut on the occasion of the party’s commemoration of the “Anniversary of the Leader’s Martyrs” in the party.
Nasrallah stressed that “the resistance continues to build its strength and keep pace with the enemy, regardless of all the campaigns taking place once morest it.”
He pointed out that “the enemy is trying, through its attacks in Syria, to prevent the arrival of the qualitative weapons of the resistance in Lebanon.”
He stressed that “we have the ability to convert our thousands of missiles into precision missiles, and we started that years ago and converted a large number of our missiles into precision, and we do not need to transfer them from Iran.”
He added, “Today we are in Lebanon and for a long time we have started to manufacture marches, and we do not need to bring them from Iran.”
Nasrallah added, “Our youth have the ability to keep pace with every development, and we are ready for any new development in our military industry,” noting that “the resistance decided to activate the air defense that has existed for years in the face of the danger of Israeli marches.”
He pointed out that “the occupation deliberately employs agents in Lebanon to compensate for the absence of its marches from the atmosphere of our country,” stressing that “the resistance’s capabilities and structure are in a state of continuous development, and last summer was one of the largest training seasons for it.”
On January 31, Lebanon announced the seizure of 17 spy networks for Israel that had a “local and regional role”, including Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians.
In another area, Nasrallah expressed “the insistence on protecting and fortifying the Lebanese army and providing it with money and weapons in quantity and quality, and insisting that the door of support for the army should not remain a single door” in reference to the United States, stressing that “the army is the basic guarantee for the country’s security, unity and protection.” from all dangers.”
On the upcoming parliamentary elections, Nasrallah said, “Whoever accuses us of postponing the elections seems to be the one who wants this delay.”
“We support holding the parliamentary elections on time, which are fateful elections,” he added, noting that the slogan (Hezbollah) for the upcoming elections is “We will protect and build.”
The international community is counting on holding the parliamentary elections next May, and considers the elections essential for the success of the reform agenda, rebuilding trust between the state and citizens and renewing power.
There are fears of financial obstacles or security incidents accompanying the holding of elections, amid previous experiences in the past years, the most recent of which was that parliamentary elections were not held in 2013, but the parliament’s mandate was extended until 2018.
Lebanon is suffering from a collapse in its local currency once morest the dollar at a time when the country is hit by intertwined political, economic, living and health crises that have led to an increase in the poverty rate to 82% with the exacerbation of unemployment and inflation and the erosion of incomes and savings amid an unprecedented rise in prices with a shortage of fuel, medicines and infant formula.
