Al-Marsad Newspaper: Journalist Abdullah bin Bakheet revealed the positive side of the awakening, referring to it the credit for everything that is happening today.
Bin Bakhit said in his article in the newspaper “Okaz” under the title “The Beautiful Face of Awakening”: Whatever disasters that befall people, there is something under its rubble that indicates that the world is fine and on the path of progress. When the awakening began to emerge in the early eighties, people thought that the awakening came to preserve the noble Saudi and Arab values as a natural reaction. The great openness that affected Saudi society in the seventies was wide and extensive. Infrastructure, scholarship and renewal of laws and regulations, and unprecedented support for sports and artistic activities. In the midst of this renaissance, the awakening prolonged, and many people, including me, thought that what we see is nothing but a natural reluctance on the part of society to control the movement of development without losing society (its privacy!). It is led by a group of simple, naive, agenda-holders and mercenaries, and as soon as we reached the nineties, the darkness spread its black wings on everything in our lives.
He continued: Women’s conditions deteriorated, education, literature and thought deteriorated, and the mind became a hostage to superstitions. However, the devastation left by the awakening in a place was not without the most important thing that nations bent on progress needed, which is the clarity of the question of renaissance and the clarity of its answer. Where did the idea of awakening come from? The answer is from the religious heritage. This question and the answer to it is the greatest that a Muslim has needed throughout the ages. Before the awakening, there is no serious tendency to review the heritage. Women were not despised in the name of religion yet, neither ISIS nor jihadist thought appeared, and terms such as mixing and the legitimate cloak did not appear, and we did not know anything called a legitimate class, and magic and jinn were hidden in the folds of simple popular culture, and a fierce war did not rage over arts and literature, and the surviving band and complete hostility to all did not appear. being not us. Where did this and others come from? The obvious answer: from the religious heritage. For the first time in forty years in which I lived, following the cultural life, I hear those who defend the Holy Qur’an as the only source of Islamic legislation. We used to move from one fatwa to one, and from one fatwa to another, until the fatwa accumulated, and we no longer heard of the Holy Quran except in prayer and on the tongues of the raqqa who earn from it, and we also discovered that the heritage says that the hadith is the ruler of the Quran.
Thanks to the awakening
Post-Awakening will not be a return to what we were before the Awakening. Whoever follows religious affairs at the level of the Islamic world will see that there is a daring revision movement taking place. What is the justification for our commitment to this accumulated heritage through the ages? This question will change the rules of business. We will not condemn ISIS in the name of religion. We will not seek the assistance of a cleric who provides us with a fatwa that declares ISIS to be infidels, immorality, or classifies them as Kharijites. We are going following ISIS because it has broken the system. We punish ISIS on security, not religious grounds.
Everything that happens today is due to the awakening. We all have to thank God that He bestowed upon us this great catastrophe.
