If you follow LMJHT news diligently, you know that we had the chance to attend the press event organized by Huawei in Milan. A show whose objective was simple, to present the new products of the Chinese brand to European markets. Also, we had the opportunity to approach and even try the new Huawei Mate XS 2. A device that will directly compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, but not in Europe… Indeed, the Mate XS 2 is not not planned on the old continent, for the moment.

Huawei succeeded well last Wednesday, in Milan, with its new foldable Smartphone, relying on the applause meter. Yes, because with its Mate XS 2, the Chinese giant cannot leave geeks and other lovers of new technologies insensitive. Indeed, visually, the mobile in question throws. With this first big difference with its competitor from Samsung, the fact that the screen folds / unfolds outwards, unlike a Z-Fold. And if it may seem less natural in use, there is a significant benefit to this bias, the fact of offering a screen, once unfolded, almost devoid of the fold, visible at Samsung. A non-negligible aesthetic aspect, therefore…
And facing the Z-Fold 3, what does it look like?
Another advantage of the Z-Folds is the easy opening of the Mate XS 2. Indeed, a button positioned on the border (see photo below) allows simple, intuitive, classy and futuristic opening! This avoids spending several seconds trying to insert your fingers/nails to open the phone. Problem that users of the equivalent at Samsung know perfectly well. In addition, it should be noted that on the scale, the Mate XS 2 also does better than its competitor. Very slightly. Suffice to say that in the pocket, the difference is barely noticeable. But it is progress then, let us underline it. Namely, also, the more “light” thickness also with 5.4 mm, once morest 6.4 mm.

Level grip, we are in a feeling similar to that offered by the rival, when it comes to using the camera or apps. On the other hand, while Samsung offers a function capable of opening three apps simultaneously, the Huawei is still limited to two apps. Surprising that the Mate XS 2 did not align on this point, especially since the interest of a triple use of applications is real. And for such a price, namely, 1999 euros, we would have been entitled to obtain perfection.

Fortunately, this is the only problem noted by our team, in addition to that related to the price. But anyway, European geeks should never take it in hand, unless Huawei finally decides to market it here. Which seems highly unlikely…
Let’s finish with a more technical aspect, by evoking Ultra High Pixel Desnity, Anti-Reflection, True-Chroma Display and Ultra-High Resolution 2400 x 2200 technologies. Knowing that Huawei also announces 1.07 trillion colors, a screen of 7 .8 inches (open) compared to 7.6 on the previous model and 6.5 inches (folded).
