We strengthen the civil participation of women in the full exercise of their citizenship

The Secretariat of Social Integration is committed to guaranteeing the rights of the women of Boyacá.

Tunja, September 14, 2022. (UACP). The department of Boyacá has the Women’s Consultative Council, an oversight body and interlocutor of the departmental administration, created and structured by Ordinance 027 of September 16, 2011.

In this instance of participation, the counselors work voluntarily to be spokespersons for the needs and problems of women, girls, boys, adolescents, youth and other population groups in conditions of vulnerability.

“We have the support of the departmental administration, through the different sectors that are part of this supervisory body and with the collaboration of the Secretariat of Social Integration, through the Directorate of Women and Social Inclusion, which carries out the technical support , guaranteeing the spaces for agreement and participation of the consultancies, as well as with the implementation of a corporate image that identifies us in the territory”, said Carmen Rocío Lagos, president of the Department’s Women’s Consultative Council.

By means of Decree 1100 of November 2, 2011, the process of convening, selection, formation and internal operation of the Consultative Council was regulated, with a group of 28 leaders: 15 representatives of social sectors or population groups of women with disabilities, with diverse sexual and gender orientation, Afro-Colombian, indigenous, young people, victims of forced displacement, peasant women, older adults, community women, businesswomen, councilors, mayors and who are part of the academy, NGOs and CTP. The other 13 representatives are from each of the Boyacá provinces.

From the department’s Women’s Consultative Council they assure that, together with the Social Integration Secretariat, efforts are being unified in the 123 municipalities with the aim of encouraging the activation and creation of Consultative Councils at the municipal level, from which efforts will be made to guarantee a participatory, equitable, inclusive, sorora and violence-free life for all women.
