Al-Marsad newspaper: The Secretary-General of the National Tobacco Control Committee said that the rate of tobacco packets in the Kingdom is still low at $7.5, indicating that the committee is seeking to increase the prices of tobacco products to 150%.
He added during his meeting with the Ya Hala Program that the most successful means of combating smoking is not treatment or awareness raising, but rather raising prices according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
He added that the committee is seeking to raise prices to 150%, noting that the price of a baguette in Saudi Arabia is 7.5 dollars on average, and following raising the price, it will reach approximately 10.5 dollars.
Regarding the date of implementation of the decision, he pointed out that this is a sovereign project and needs more research.
