Katerina Notopoulou was invited to the show “The next day” on Action 24 and she talked about the latest developments in SYRIZA and the next plans. The party MP spoke about Alexis Tsipras and the possibility of some MPs moving from her party to PASOK.
“I will tell you what I also said at the party congress,” he said. “I feel we owe Alexis Tsipras an apology. He warned us in good time, but unfortunately SYRIZA did not succeed until this conference to honor the legacy left by Alexis Tsipras. Executives he trusted did not behave with maturity but petty politics. I am referring to the first split of SYRIZA and then enough time passed with the attempt of Kasselakis and his supporters to dissolve or undermine his historical legacy. Fortunately, at the conference we made the brave decision to recognize what happened and to do from now on what is necessary for the party to function democratically”
Regarding the resignation of Kilkis MP, Petros Pappa, who launched an attack against SYRIZA saying that it is a party that is outside the democratic arc, Mrs. Notopoulou initially said “In political life we are all judged for how we choose to walk. The same applies to our social as well as personal life. Here we are faced with a misery without end, without limits. The Greek people see, understand and judge”.
As Katerina Notopoulou mentioned, speaking to MEGA, “SYRIZA is determined to change the page after the departure of St. Kasselakis”.
He went on to say that “we feel liberated and more creative. We can look our fellow citizens in the eye, change the page on SYRIZA away from toxicity”.

**Interview with Katerina Notopoulou on SYRIZA’s Recent Developments**
**Editor:** Welcome, Katerina Notopoulou, to “The Next Day.” You’ve recently shared your thoughts on the current state of SYRIZA and the party dynamics. Can you tell us more about the situation and the future plans for SYRIZA?
**Notopoulou:** Thank you for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss what’s been happening within SYRIZA. There have indeed been significant changes and challenges in our party dynamics recently, particularly concerning the legacy of Alexis Tsipras and how we honor that moving forward.
**Editor:** You mentioned the need for an apology to Alexis Tsipras during your party congress. Could you elaborate on that?
**Notopoulou:** Absolutely. I genuinely believe that we owe him that apology. Alexis Tsipras has been a vital figure for our party, and he warned us about the potential pitfalls long before they became apparent. Unfortunately, certain party executives didn’t act with the maturity that was necessary to navigate these challenges. Instead, we saw instances of petty politics leading to the first split in SYRIZA.
**Editor:** Considering the potential shift of some MPs to PASOK, how do you see that affecting SYRIZA and its future?
**Notopoulou:** The possibility of some of our MPs moving to PASOK is certainly a concern. It reflects a broader dissatisfaction and perhaps a sense of urgency among certain members. My hope is that instead of fracturing further, we can redirect our energy towards unifying and rejuvenating our party. We need to focus on our core values and on addressing the needs of the people.
**Editor:** You mentioned Kasselakis and his supporters. How do you perceive their influence on SYRIZA’s current trajectory?
**Notopoulou:** Their attempt to shift the party’s direction is indeed significant. While all party members have a right to express their opinions and influence our path, it’s crucial that we ensure these changes are in alignment with the foundational ideologies of SYRIZA. We have to be careful to balance ambition with loyalty to our roots.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, what steps do you foresee SYRIZA taking to overcome these current challenges?
**Notopoulou:** We need to engage in open dialogue within the party and actively listen to the concerns of our members. Continued collaboration and clear communication will be vital. Additionally, we need to focus on our goals for the future and how we can effectively serve the public, especially in these transformative times for Greece.
**Editor:** Thank you, Katerina, for sharing your insights. It will be interesting to see how SYRIZA navigates these challenges moving forward.
**Notopoulou:** Thank you for having me! I’m optimistic about the path we can carve out together.
